Bosacki said the visit was meant to express solidarity with Ukraine and reassure Ukrainians that they are not alone.
"Especially after Russia’s recent heavy air strikes, they are not alone—Poland stands with them, the West stands with them," Bosacki told reporters.
Bosacki was welcomed at Kyiv’s Mykhailivska Square by Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Mishchenko, and the two laid wreaths at the Wall of Remembrance of the Fallen for Ukraine, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Bosacki's talks with Ukrainian officials were expected to focus on bilateral issues and coordination with allies, including security, military assistance and cooperation in the defence sector.
He said Poland supports including Ukraine in the European Union’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) programme, which aims to boost defence investment across the bloc by offering member states up to EUR 150 billion in low-cost loans for defence projects.
Discussions were also expected to cover preparations for an international conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction, scheduled to be held in Poland in June.
“There are many issues to discuss, but streamlining cooperation in manufacturing and defence is particularly important today,” Bosacki said.
He told reporters that his arrival in Kyiv was delayed by about two-and-a-half hours due to damage to Ukraine’s rail infrastructure caused by Russian air strikes.
“We will also help rebuild this infrastructure,” Bosacki declared.
